Host
We're looking for an experienced, energetic host or hostess to join the Hugo's Lost Colony team!
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Ability to serve with a genuine smile, adjust on the fly, and always provide service at the highest standards of excellence.
At Hugo's Lost Colony, everything we do is inspired by our guests, and first impressions mean everything. It's critical that each and every guest feel warmly welcomed in, and treated as a VIP.
In this position, you'll be required to:
- Greet guests in a welcoming fashion
- Engage promptly and energetically with a genuine smile
- Open and hold doors for guests whenever possible
- Know the restaurant layout and menu well, in order to answer any questions guests may have upon arrival
- Quickly identify ideal seating placements, as determined by guest preferences and space availability
- Guide guests to their table and present menus
- Receive and take phone calls
- Know and understand our service and kitchen software
- Maintain orderly and clean front of house
- Conclude dining experience by acknowledging the guests as they make their exist, thanking them, and if possible, holding the doors for them
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules as required, including weekends and some holidays
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Age: Must be at least 16 years of age
- Experience: One year minimum experience in front-facing service industry, restaurant experience preferred
- Familiarity with industry best practices
ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Communication: The ability to speak and write effectively and clearly, actively listen to others, ask questions to verify understanding, and always do so with a smile and helpful attitude
- Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and guests
- Basic math skill proficiency
- Bilingual preferable but not required
- Professional maturity: The ability to separate emotional feelings from the real issues at hand, meet commitments, keep the promises you make, and accept the responsibility of your actions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work in standing position for extended durations (6-12 hour shifts)
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds without issue
- Ability to work in an environment that has exposures to cold, heat, and water
- Able to lift, reach, bend and stoop
